Life lately behind the camera

If you’ve been following along for a while, you may have noticed things have been a little quiet around here lately. Between photographing weddings, chasing sunsets, editing galleries late at night, and balancing everyday life, my website updates somehow kept getting pushed to the side. So here I am, finally sitting down with a coffee to share a little life update and what’s been happening behind the camera lately.

The past year has honestly been full of beautiful chaos in the best way possible.

I’ve had the privilege of photographing so many incredible couples across Perth and beyond, from intimate backyard weddings to big celebrations filled with dancing, happy tears, and the kind of moments that remind me why I love this job so much. Every wedding has been different, but one thing always stays the same: the connection between people.

That’s the part I’ll never get tired of documenting.

I’ve always believed wedding photography is about more than just “pretty photos.” Of course I love the dreamy golden light, beautiful details, and romantic portraits, but what matters most to me are the honest moments in between. The nervous hand squeezes before the ceremony. Parents trying not to cry. Your friends losing it on the dance floor. The quiet little moments you didn’t even realise happened until you see them later in your gallery.

Those are the memories that stay with you.

Outside of weddings, life has also been wonderfully busy. I’ve been meeting so many lovely people through engagement sessions, family shoots, and casual portrait sessions around Perth. Some sessions feel like catching up with old friends, others start with nervous introductions and end with everyone laughing by the end of the shoot, and honestly, that’s my favourite part.

I know being in front of a camera can feel awkward sometimes (trust me, I get it), so I always try to create a relaxed experience where you can simply be yourselves. No stiff posing. No pressure to “perform.” Just genuine moments and guidance when you need it.

Lately I’ve also been focusing more on slowing down creatively, finding inspiration in everyday moments, quiet mornings, beach walk, messy flowers, warm light, and all the little things that make life feel beautiful. I think those little inspirations naturally flow into the way I photograph people too.

For couples currently planning their wedding: first of all, congratulations. It’s such an exciting season of life, even if it sometimes feels overwhelming. I know choosing a photographer is a big decision because you’re not just choosing someone to take photos, you’re choosing someone who will be beside you for most of your wedding day.

So if you’re looking for someone who will happily fix your veil, calm your nerves, hype you up during portraits, cry during your vows internally, and capture your day in a natural and heartfelt way… I might just be your person.
